We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our core product team, reporting directly to our CTO. Based in our offices in Katy Texas, or Remotely for those outside of the greater Houston area, this Developer will be instrumental in the overall plan and vision for future state initiatives and current state optimization. Strong Python and Django skills are essential.

The Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining system integrations that enable seamless communication between applications and services of a commercial-grade product. This position requires knowledge and expertise to design, code, test, implement, and support back-end services and APIs collaboratively.

Objectives of this role

• Build next-generation web applications and integrations
• Support full-stack web development using agile methodologies
• Ensure high-quality product delivery for clients

Responsibilities

• Developing synchronous and asynchronous messaging architectures
• Coordinating activities with other developers to ensure that integration projects are completed on time
• Formulating strategies and designing architectures for system integrations
• Ensuring that best practices in integration processes are employed in designing, implementing, and testing integrations
• Maintaining the integrity and smooth functioning of the company’s integration architecture and critical production endpoints
• Analyzing and improving current system integrations
• Identifying, debugging, and correcting system errors or architecture issues related to consuming integration endpoints or exposing integration endpoints
• Supporting software development activities to maintain a mission-critical software product
• Participating in code reviews and collaborating with team members to define and implement solutions or troubleshoot issues

Required skills and qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of Django, Python, and API development and consumption in a large-scale environment
• Software Development Lifecycle experience in an agile software engineering environment that supports development, unit testing, functional testing, integration testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintaining integrations for large-scale enterprises or commercial products
• Interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work in an agile global team environment
• Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support organizational goals and objectives

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a programmer or software developer of web applications, REST APIs, including their functionalities, protocols, and methods for accessing and interacting with data
• Understanding of full-stack web development and APIs that provide services to mobile applications

The interview process for this position will require a practical hands-on assessment of Django/Python.
