Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Preconstruction Engineer to support our project planning and execution efforts. In this role, you will play a vital part in the early stages of our construction projects, providing critical technical expertise, cost analysis, and coordination to ensure successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong organizational skills and a passion for delivering high-quality work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of detailed project estimates and budgets, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams to evaluate project scope and technical requirements.
  • Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop preliminary schedules to align with project goals and timelines.
  • Research and source materials, equipment, and subcontractors to support cost-effective project planning.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project design and cost.
  • Provide technical support during the bidding and negotiation process.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the preconstruction phase.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or a related role, preferably in the HVAC and Plumbing industries.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and systems.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to use applications and software relevant to the mechanical and controls industry.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
