Job Title: Cage Wash Technician

Location: Lawrenceville, NJ 08648

100% onsite

Duration: 03 Months contract

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm

Pay Rate: $21.89/hr on w2

Position Overview:

The client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cage Wash Technician to support operations within its Veterinary Sciences department. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe vivarium environment by performing sanitation and logistical duties related to animal housing equipment.

While this position does not involve direct animal handling, feeding, or medical procedures , the technician will play a vital role in supporting research through equipment maintenance and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sterilize animal cages, feeders, water bottles, and other related equipment using autoclaves and mechanical washers.
• Maintain general cleanliness of empty animal rooms, cage wash areas, and ancillary spaces.
• Assemble, clean, and pack transfer carts used for transporting cages and equipment.
• Record autoclave performance indicators such as temperature tapes and test ampoules.
• Lubricate and perform minor adjustments or repairs on equipment using basic hand tools as needed.
• Receive, store, and stock supplies such as feed, bedding, and sanitation materials.
• Follow all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and report any deviations or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
• Wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, as required by safety protocols.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Frequent exposure to biohazards, noise, humidity, animal excrement, odors, and heat.
• Exposure to animal allergens is expected; PPE and training are provided.
• Must be comfortable working in a vivarium setting with animals such as rodents, rabbits, dogs, and primates (again, no direct animal handling).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. and perform moderate physical tasks including bending, pushing/pulling, and standing for long periods.
• Medical screening is required prior to placement to assess for history of allergies, asthma, or physical limitations that could pose a risk in this environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, or laboratory settings will work as well
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to cleanliness, and ability to follow SOPs.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to comply with all safety, sanitation, and medical screening requirements.
• Familiarity with or interest in client's mission and values is a plus.

Interview Process:

• 30-minute interview via Microsoft Teams.
• Manager will ask candidates to introduce themselves and may ask questions aligned with client's core values and cultural fit.
